Help!!! bogging in rain!
Help!!! bogging in rain!
I have recently discovered a huge problem w/ my camaro. About a month ago,i noticed my car bogging terribly in the rain. It felt like it was going to stall when idling, and if I try to hold a rev @ a certain rpm, it will go down by about 600 rpm, sometimes more. When driving, the exhaust pops, and I try to give it more gas, and it gets louder, but doesnt go any faster. I put plug wires on it, and thought I fixed the problem, but today it poured, and right after I went through a decent sized puddle( had no choice), the car started bogging again. The wires look fine, and the only places I see water is near kn intake, but I dont think in it, and on the computer. I was thinking opti, but then realized it only happens when the sensors begin to control the car. Does anyone know what the problem is? Opti?(stock w/ 11600miles) 02s?( stock as well, lengthened for headers) Oh yeah. Seems like all this started after header install( after install, I did wash the engine pretty good. Didnt know about opti then) Sorry for the longevity of the post. Just wanted to be thorough. Thanks
im doin the hotcam kit soon, and im goin to convert to 95 opti. i kind of hope its the opti spark. I just got plug wires less than a month ago. I dont feel like replacing them to. The only thing that I dont understand is why does is only bog in the rain, and why when sensors start controlling engine? Open loop or closed loop, whatever its called. It seems to much of a coinscidence to me that right when car goes into open loop, the water starts to effect the opti. can anyone explain?
I cant really say that im 100% sure, its just that when I start it, and engine is still cool, there is no miss at all. It holds rpms perfectly, but after a while when engine is warming up, I barely see my dash lights flicker once, and fuel pump stops pumping for a nanosecond, and rpms begin to drop, it starts to mis by as much as 200 rpm when dry, and 700 rpm when wet. I just figured that when that happens car is going into open loop
