Exhaust slip joint seperation

Ok, what s the magic to getting a U-bolt slip joint seperated?

I need to get the Cat section seperated from the rest of the exhaust out back and cannot get the two pipes to come apart for the life of me.

um... I guess I should have been even more specific, without dragging out the torch or sawzall!!!

I would prefer to keep all the parts intact.

Re: Exhaust slip joint seperation

try a cut-off wheel and slice just the outside pipe , just up to the crease

]
by heat i meant heating the pipe until the entire crease is orange/red, then wiggle the pipe till it slips out, it can then be reused

Re: Exhaust slip joint seperation

THANKS DAVE!!!

A nice quick slice with a cutoff wheel and a portapower wedged between two u-bolts and its all apart with minimal damage and minimal effort... and just a touch over 1 hour between first post and exhaust apart.

I knew I liked this place!!!
