How fast will 400rwhp and a 300shot take me in the 1/4mile?

I've seriously been thinking about adding some nitrous to this motor. I'm tired of backing down from a race from people because they have nitrous or superchargers.

I want to know how much a 300 shot would improve on a 400rwhp in relation to 1/4 mile times. I also want to know what a 150 shot would do.

Way off in the nines depending on weight with a 300 shot.Around 635RWHP--should be enough--

I am building up my Trans am in this very way. The combo is:
solid roller 383 LT4 (should make ~475rwhp)
TH-350
12-bolt with 3.73s
tubular front end
6 point cage
Wolfe drag race sway bar, torque arm
BMR SFCs, PHR, LCAs
custom fuel system (supported a 1033rwhp 94 Z28)
direct port setup adjustable from 200-600 horse

We are planning on spraying about a 350 shot (which should make at least 350rwhp being a direct port) on top of the ~475rwhp. So we are expecting in the 825rwhp and weighing in around 3100 lbs race weight (removed A/C, cruise control, all emmisions, Corbeau seats, etc...) and we are shooting for deep nines.

I don't think a 350 shot will give ya 350RWHP.FWHP maybe and then the train loss.Around 750RWHP.

The 300hp from the nitrous will improve your times out of proportion to 300hp from a blower due to all the added torque. However, you are heading for a major expenditure to beef up the rest of the drivetrain to handle it. The clutch, driveshaft, rear end, and possibly the tranny are going to need upgrades.

750, 825, whatever it takes

And this system is adjustable from a 200 shot to a 600 shot

With the 750RWHP ya are looking at the 8's.

Very good words to live by right there. Before we have even been able to get the motor built, I had to have the TH350 built for it, the 12-bolt built for it, a big *** nitrous driveshaft, etc...

yeah, more than likely after some tweaking here and there. But for now I am shooting for deep nines, so if we hit a 9.0 or even 8.99 then we exceeded our goal.

Anyone can throw a big shot of n2o and get all excited about it...until everything behind the motor (and probably the motor itself) goes BOOM.

Take a look at guys making alot of power...I don't see 10 bolts there. T-56...good luck even with the best of parts...you don't see the T-56 guys switching to Th-400's(or PG's) just for the fun of it...4 bolt mains eh...just not any rod is going to be holding up to the 400 lbs of additional torque you gonna hit them with....then the kicker...can your car pass tech (IHRA or NHRA or even a quick visual..if you care about that stuff).

IMO...I would be looking at a 150 shot (at most) tuned properly and hitting it in the top of 2nd gear or something like that.

With the T350 and that kind of HP all ya are going to do is stand it on it's bumper if ya can hook it. Ya will have to run a 2 to 1 gear and high gear is gonna suffer.
Anybody fast is running a glide and a 3.50 gear there about's. Most are running them training wheel's out back too with some laundry attatched and Pro Mod cage's. This is with a 10.5 DR tire and that's all ya need to put it on the bumper. It's very hard to steer like that too.

Yea I have heard of it. Ya push it across the line if ya got one behind a 900FWHP engine.

So is there any official limit for a stock t56?

Manual transmissions in general seem to hold up better than automatics. For example, the stock 4l60e breaks under stock power.

Instead of getting a built up auto tranny, why not get a built up manual?

It's all about the same price. Ya spend 3500 for a Jerico or Liberty-400 for a scatter shield-- 300 for a flywheel and 1000+ for a clutch and 500 for a release unit and ya might be there and this is a cheap estiment to handle 1000HP. Next step is a Lenco or a Bruno.Lenco's are about 2500 a unit so a 5 speed with a reverser is 15,000 + a 5000 dollar clutch and a 1000 dollar can(steel not Titanum) plus a shifter.
I can get a Mike's Transmission ultimate glide with a J&W shield and a Dedenbear case for 4500 and a Chance converter for 1500 and ya can handle 2000+FWHP.
The stick will be faster but the auto will be more consistant.

Ya can't build a T56 to handle that much HP,not even the Viper one.
