Need a large trailer

Hey guys.

Next Saturday I need to get a large trailer to go pick up some Trex building materials from Bellingham.

The tailer I have is not up to the job. Too small.

Anyone have a car trailer? I'm willing to pay to rent it.

Why not buy it locally and have it delivered it is extremely heavy stuff even a small looking load can be a pain for a trailer.

Maybe not convenient for you Shaun, but I have a car trailer in Abbotsford. It uses a 2 5/16" ball and is quite low. It carries my 3200lb Trans Am just fine. What will you use to pull it with?

You are familiar with this stuff Mike? yes, its a lot heavier then I anticipated.

I'm buying almost 1500 linear feet. $4.20 per foot locally. (Rona quoted $4.50 *yikes). I got it for $ 2.39 USD in Belligham. Not to mention the costs of railing, posts etc. I estimate a saving of $1500 - $1800 BUT, it has been a hassle. Still, the saving is worth it.

Thanks Larry. Looks like I'll be OK. A neighbour JUST bought a new big pick-up. I can carry the long pieces on the trailer and anything less then 10 feet in the pick up.

We sell it at my work. It is pricey and a pain to deal with. Also has a bad rep for being returned.I would say that out of every 3 shipments that go out 2 of them get sent back. Its a hard product to install and not many people like to work with it.

Re: Need a large trailer

It certainly is pricey here in Canada. I was looking to do a two tone deck, sadddle accents in the middle and Woodland Brown for trim. I have not worked with it yet though. I must confess, the order that was shipped to Bellingham WAS wrong and I have to make a second trip. (which I would have anyway becaus eof the trailer).

That being said, I'm a low maintanence type of guy and a composite deck was my only choice as far as I was concerned. Again though, the Canadian distributor pricing is simply OUTRAGEOUS.

I wanted 2X6 deck boards. They were $2.80 USD but the CDN price was $8.50. The store said their COST was $7.00. Not only that, the distributor did not stock it so it would have to be ordered from the states and would take a week. WTF!!!!!!

How much product are they going to move at that kind of mark up.

Nonetheless, I'm optomistic that the finished result is going to be very nice.

I find it very funny that you guys are comming down here to buy materials because it is cheaper, but we do the same thing (Head North) to buy raw wood materials because it is cheaper for us...... just does not make sense but that is the way it is.

Yeah, it is kind of ironic.

Problem is, we sell you raw material and then buy back value added finished products. That being said, the strong $CDN is making our raw materials more expensive from YOUR perspective and your value added products are cheaper from our perspective.

Of course, I spent about $30,000 CDN building the TA when the rate was $1.50 - $1.60
