if nothing else follow the shoebox guide for a cam swap. obviously, skip the steps that do not follow what you're doing. (shbox.com) really though, just unbolt the intake elbow, remove the fuel rail, remove the intake bolts and remove. you will have to move the harness around but you'll get it. from there, it's just getting the heads unbolted and getting that coolant pipe off the back of each head....oh, and please do not cut it. it's really not too hard, especially if you car already has the smog crap deleted

you make it sound so simple... I would think it would be a very involved, time-consuming process... but I've never done it before.

it really is pretty simple. if you have a stock motor, its much more difficult becuase there's thick heavy manifolds in the way and all the smog pump crap hooked to the head. the intake removal is very easy, and from there, it's just removing the head bolts, coolant tube off the back of the heads, and remove the headers. the alternator and some things are also in the way, but i wouldn't expect more than about a days work to do it. doing a lifter swap, i got the intake off in an hour from start to finish. after removing the intake and all of it's junk that goes with it, it really clears up the engine bay. the wiring harness in the lt1's are not very complex under the hood. easy to move out of harms way. i have been surprised how easy it is to remove things in the lt1 engine bay. it looks very hard from even a close view.

i did it once, and if i had to do it again i would pull the motor out. ist so hard to get to all the bolts especially if you have long tubes in your way. i had to use a swivel to get the torque wrench on some head bolts and i wouldnt trust that. probably would have saved some time to by just pulling the motor.

I agree 100%. I can have the motor out in about 4 hours, it took me a full night to do the heads with longtubes on.
