Oil leak (Front of oil pan)

Its a new seal. It drips oil every time I stop. Just drops several drops and then stops. Not sure why it leaks.

Re: Oil leak (Front of oil pan)

Brake cleaner or carb cleaner can be your friend, clean it good and then drive it look where leak is coming from. Front engine oil leaks can be from pan, water pump drive seal, opti seal, crank seal or front of intake.

Don't waste your time with those cork thing a ma bobs. Put some black permatex on the front and the back and be done with it for good. We always have problems with the cork crap but never when replaced with Permatex.

Only the black permatex is the way to go. It has a different texture and consistancy. It's the bomb.

Re: Oil leak (Front of oil pan)

When i swaqpped the cam out in my car i ripped the front of the oil pan gasket, made a new one out of copper RTV. Worked great. Now when i rebuilt the engine i wanted it to look nicer so i used a new oil pan gasket (plus i had two brand new ones here so why not)...well guess what now i have a leak from the front of the oil pan Sometime i need to jack the engine up a few inches and drop the pan and put some RTV in there or something.

Re: Oil leak (Front of oil pan)

Used the red stuff worked fine. no leaks sense. It has a higher tolerance then the black stuff that came with it. But just had tube of it around. Made some scratch marks liberally on the front and abck and wasn;t stingy with the red high temp RTV. So far so good and pleased.
