New Dyno Numbers
New Dyno Numbers
Bryan from pcmforless was down here in Alabama today dyno tuning for a local Impala SS club and I got to bring my Z out with them. I have been wanting to get the car dyno tuned and for $150 I couldn't pass on this.
I made an initial pull with my current mail order tune:
346hp/337tq
11.9 AF ratio
On the second pull Bryan just uploaded his base tune for my combo. It is what I would have gotten if I had mail ordered:
356hp/350tq
12.3 AF ratio
On the third pull he brought the AF ratio to 12.8
356hp/350tq
so the numbers didn't change, but the car was getting hot by that pull.
I was having some high rpm issues with the car, but now it pulls clean up top and my low rpm surge is gone. I am very pleased with the numbers considering I am pulling around a 12 Bolt Moser rearend and I don't have all the bolt on mods yet.
I am hoping for 375hp when I get:
52MM throttle body, TB bypass
My DMH cutout installed
An Electric waterpump
ASP Balancer/Pulley
All of the pulls were made through a full exhaust and no dyno tricks like pulling the CAI or dropping the belt.
Like, I said I am pleased with todays numbers and Bryan was a nice guy. Also, I am not knocking madwolfs base tune that I had. For a mail order tune it was good.

I would be pleased with those numbers, considering the 12-bolt is robbing significant power. Was the cam picked for the headflow?
$150 for three pulls? Wow, what a rip.

Also, the $150 wasn't for dyno pulls, it was Bryan's fee for the pcm tuning on the dyno. The regular dyno fee for this shop is $65 for the 3 pulls with the wideband 02.
EDIT: Also, the cam wasn't picked to match the headflow. I just picked it out myself from the cams at combo motorsports. I now wish I had went with either the 233/239 or the GM847.
