Question Anyone running sidepipes?

Just wondering if anyone is running sidepipes, how they sound, and if you made them yourself or if they were prefab

with how good the LT1 already sounds, its hard to imagine how awesome itd sound with the ttops off and sidepipes right there

sidepipes have been used longer than the term "rice" was even thought of... so how do you get that?

I've seen a picture of a 4th gen with sidepipes but I don't know if they were real. It did look cool. If they were real it probably required pretty creative exhaust routing.

i get rice from my own defnation!

RICE= anyone that does stupid things to there car to make it look mean or fast without any performance gain

rice does not mean just imports its all the cars with huge hoodscoops that run 15's its the guy with the 3rd gen or g body or any other that thinks it looks cool and gives him an edge to lift the back end up as high as they can then fit the biggest tires to slow them down to a 17' sec 1/4
its the guy with the side pipes on any thing newer than 1977

obviously sidepipes would have SOME sort of gain, over stock...

believe me, you have the same definition as i do about rice... i wont do something to a car without having some kind of performance gain, unless its to make the car look clean (new paint, etc etc)

i def. wouldnt run sidepipes
1. on a stock or lowered car they would prolly stick too far down
2. The exhaust would prolly have to run near lines and wires

but I would do true duals

Obviously the meaning "rice" is for Japanese cars. Rice burners. Hints why they're called ricers. Chung chi chung rice... rickety ricer rice.

and how wouldnt you gain from sidepipes? id think two mufflers are better than one

edit: plus, why are they on mustangs all the time? They sound really good... nothing like fart cans.

Boy...must be a bunch of youngsters in here. Back in the hayday of the muscle car era some of the baddest and lowest cars out there were running sidepipes...Corvettes, Mustangs, Cobras, etc. As far as performance gains...just like running open headers. A good friend of mine had a 69 Vette with a HP427 with side pipes...we ran a bunch of times ( I had a 69 Camaro 396) and he would always beat me by a couple of cars...he decided that he wanted it quieter so he put on duals out the back....he never beat me again!! Sidepipes are way COOL!!! If you can do a clean install go for it...make sure you share though
