TB Bypass and Intake Elbow Questions...

I had the day off today so I set out to do the free mods.. Got the skip shift done no problem, the hardest part was getting the car up high enough to have a little room underneiath to work on it..

But with the TB Bypass, I had some trouble finding where the coolant line exits.. That's on the passenger side towards the bottom of the TB right? I think I'm ok on that now, but will I need a connector to do it on a '96? I read that I could go directly from the coolant line to the metal line that runs down the side, is that right? I got a connector at Home Depot for 83 cents just in case...

Also, my intake elbow is falling apart where it connects to the TB, so I'm planning on getting one of the steel ones.. Is the Trick Flow elbow polished or is the only polished one the Vortech elbow? Also, where's the cheapest place to get them? So far it seems to be TByrne but I still have to check a couple others...

(I know the performance gains are non-existant, I just want to upgrade for the looks of it and so I don't have to worry about having another elbow fall apart on me..)

Thanks..

Summit sells the vortech one for $75 for satin, $95 for polished; the Trickflow one from them is $85.
I bought the polished Vortech about a week before the Trickflow was in their catalog. It needed to have two inches cut off and the air sensor had to be threaded with a die so it would screw into a hole on the side. Looks great after that. The Trickflow isn't supposed to require any modification, but I haven't got my hands on one so I don't know.

Thanks.. Do you know if the Trick Flow elbow is just a satin finish or is it polished?

Also, if you or anyone knows, what's the closed off tube that runs out the bottom of the elbow? Is that there for something involving cars that had Ram Air? Or is it just completely pointless?

Since the steel elbow won't have a place to put that I want to make sure...

The tube on the bottom of the elbow can be eliminated. It is a silencer.

You don't need the hose barb to do the bypass on a 1995 and up.

Thanks.. I found a lot of discussion on the silencer just now as well.. So I'm definately getting a steel elbow now, I'm just deciding between Trick Flow and Vortech.. As far as I'm concerned, nothing on my car needs to be silenced, especially if it's robbing me of smooth airflow..

And now that I know for sure about the TB Bypass, maybe I'll try it on Sunday if I have time.. Shouldn't take too long. Thanks again.
