Temp problems
I bought my 94 z-28 a few months ago. IN the beginning the car would run to about 215 when sitting still but would cool to about 180-190 when driving. Now the car never seems to drop below 210 degrees. My water pump leaks sometimes. I heard about a weep hole whatever that is. THe leakage seems to be comming from the gasket between the two faces of the water pump. Also strange, my heater doesn't work very well. It blows out cold air until the car reaches 210 degrees and even then the air is only luke warm? Is my water pump shot? Is my heater core ****ed up?
Sounds like you have a clogged heater core. You may also have some other blockage in the system.
I would put a new radiator cap on, new thermostat and have the system professionally flushed. I really hate to replace stuff if I don't know if it's bad or not, but the cap and thermostat are very cheap.
I'm not sure if I understand your statement about leaking coolant from the faces of the waterpump. Do you mean it leaks in between the pump housing and front cover? You need to fix that as well before you have it flushed. The weep hole is a small hole on the bottom of the waterpump housing, it only leaks when the pump is going bad.
Also you might try letting the coolant level in the radiator get a little low, then start the car with the radiator cap off, let it fully warm up, and make sure there is a steady stream of coolant coming out of the return line that comes out right below the cap. Don't let the level in the radiator get too low though.
