where did you relocate your iat to?
where did you relocate your iat to?
I want to do this and want to know where you guys put yours. I am thinking of putting it by the k and n symbol on the drivers fender side of the intake.
Did you all cut the wire and solder some more on it? What about that jet kit? How did you fasten the IAT into the new spot?

IAT location
Best place to mount the IAT (anything is better than letting it hang in the engine compartment), it to drill the 1/2" hole into the rubber part that holds your K&N Filter. I don't use solder and mines held up great over past 8 years without incident. I actually used speaker wire about 18 gauge since the sensor uses a Pair of wires.
Back when I was running the Callaway Honker CAI (same as Moroso), I drilled a hole in the metal cap on the end of the conical K&N filter, put a rubber grommet in the hole, with a snug fit for the IAT sensor to push into. Worked great.
Rather than cut the stock harness, I bought a spare harness connector at an auto parts store, and made an extension with a pair of 16ga wires, tinned the end of the wires and "plugged" them into the stock harness connector, taped them up. Also worked great.

I moved mine into the SLP CAI airpump hole. Later on the airpump just "fell off"

Just provides the PCM with more accurate inlet air temp data. With the excessive heat soak in the stock location, you can get IAT's in the range of 140-145degF. This appears to pull about 3 degrees of timing. Not sure if anyone has confirmed this as an absolute fact. But from my experience, it would get a little sluggish when the IAT went to 140degF.
Do not put a resistor in the sensor connector. That trick goes back to the 3rd Gens where the speed-density models would run a little richer with a 57degF IAT temp (4.7Kohms). I've seen a number of reports of people dynoing the resistor and losing HP on the LT1.

Fred, you have any idea what the P/N would be for the connector?
I am not doing this for perf, but rather to fix my very pesky idle surge. Since it only happens at 100* plus intake temp and while i am not moving, and under any other condition does not stumble surge i am just about betting a gazillion dollars its the IAT"S location. I dont know why after ten years it would do this, but i wanna make it go away.
Where could i find that extra IAT pigtail connector? went to az, advance, napa dont have it.
