new o2s car runs horrible, need a AFPR?

ok guys here is the deal. i put in borg warner 02s yesterday and now the car lurches kinda stumbles. it only does it every once in awhile. if i roll up to a stop sign in nuetral the rpms fall to 600 rpms then back up to 1000 rpms. the car has more lope to it now. its weird because you can feel the car jerk a little while driving. i dont think its cam surge, madwolf did a program for my car. when the o2s are unplugged the car runs like a champ. i get the normal ses light but the idle never drops below 1000 rpms even in nuetral. i went to see my mechanic and he scanned the car. the car is now in a lean condition with the oxygen sensors in. he told me to get a adjustable fuel pressure regulator. the last thing i want to do is run the car down the track lean. ive checked the plugs and wires, this only happens when the o2s are in. the bungs are located right before the long tubes hit the y-pipe. anyone think maybe the sensors arent getting hot enough?

thanks

Did the car run just fine BEFORE you changed the O2 sensors?

Why did you change them?

What type did you get and are they the correct ones for your engine?

Did you contaminate the sensors before installing them, possibly with anti-sieze, RTV, etc?

Are you sure the harness connectors are on correctly?

Do you have a good ground?

If it ran fine before the O2 sensors, and suddenly started running bad ONLY AFTER you changed the sensors, it would make no sense at all to try and fix it with an AFPR. Its a problem with the sensors. Or.... if it was already running bad before you changed them, it could be other problems.

I think the reason you aren't getting any answers if because its sort of hard to understand exaclty when things went bad.

the car hasnt had o2s on it since the rebuild (cam, p&p, ect). yes it did run fine when the car was stock, the old sensors had 75000 miles on them and are long gone. i used no loc-tite or anti-seize . i have thunderracing extensions. could resetting the pcm do anything because the car has never ran with sensors until the other day. maybe its confused?

Hey worak, funny, same thing is happening with my car code 44 and 64 right and left 02's are running lean. my car is an a4 and has been running fine until i got the car back from the shop. at idle or park, car drops to 500-600 rpm's and ses light comes on.
i replaced my 2 o2's as well and the same is going on. let me know if you get it fixed... i am fixing to get my tune from bryan and he is going to add fuel to the car, i really hope this fixes the problem

Whatever the problem, I doubt that an AFPR will fix it. You can't change the A/F with a regulator. JMHO

Hey Rodney,
I thought you said the car ran great after the tune?
Did it run ok on the stock o2s and not on the new o2s or it ran the same on the stock o2s as well?

ion

i never had o2s on it. the car is awesome without the o2s hooked up. you think i need to send the pcm back to you? i doubt the o2s are bad. i jsut put them on the car thursday, i figured the car would have ran even better when i put the new ones in. all i know is the car is trapping at 90 mph in the 1/8th, without o2s. is there anything you suggest ion?

Worak, like I said in the other post, please let me know what fixes your car. Mine is doing the exact same as yours.
