The Fastest LT1/LS1 T-56

Who is the Fastest LT1/LS1 T-56 F-body? What has been done to that persons T-56 to make it live? And about how much power is that person Pushing?

who is the fastest stock T-56? or more to the point how fast can a Stock T-56 go before you begin to break things (generally speaking) in an F-body?

I know 2 guys in 11s with stock internals on a T-56, but I think most of the 10 sec guys have theirs built. Im guessing your limit is in the 500 RWHP range

LT1 T56 is Different then the LS1 T56....the LT1 T56 is the Borg Warner tranny...much stronger then the LS1 Tremec T 56...I've seen high 9's low 10's on Borg Warner T56s...Tremecs tend to have problems as low as 350 rwhp...heck I've even heard of problems on bolt on LS1 cars making 300ish rwhp...Borg Warner would be good to 500rwhp pretty easy...the Tremec 350ish maybe 400 and I bet you start having problems...

Like any trans though there are those with their problems, for instance i cleaned my second with only the mods in my sig (minus the nittos) and after $1600 for a rebuild i still have third problems, which i believe to be teeth missing (only kicks out during normal shifting, not at all a problem at the track) While we are on the topic i would just like to put out there that it really angers me when i have tranny or drivetrain problems because that is the only thing i am not willing to at least attempt to fix on my own.....i really wish i had some tranny knowledge and tools

I've seen a 99 SS run 10.8@126mph with a 125-shot, launching at 6K and shifting the living crap out of that "horrible" Tremec T56.... no problems whatsoever with it.

I'd be interested in some factual info regarding the specific changes Tremec made to the T56 after they bought the design from Borg-Warner. Just need to be educated, I guess.

Would that car happen to be black?? I see a black LS1 SS with 6speed at Maple Grove from time to time. Older guy drives it. He's in the 9/10 sec. range.

If the case is anything like the case on the crappy Tremic T-5 I have seen bolt on 5.0 mustangs twist the case on those.

My T56 was bone stock and I ran a 9.94 with it last year. Both Taner and my runs are at the BMR site.

Taner broke his output shaft last year and got his rebuilt to handle a bit more.
