Cam Questions

Thinkin about orderin a cam package Soon ?

I have heard really good things about the Comp Cam 306, i dont have head work yet, will i need this for that cam?

Whats the difference between the Comp Cam "300"series (305,306) and teh "Extreme" series.

Is the LT4 hot cam better than Comp series ? What are any advantages or disadvantages ?

Based on my mods, and the fact that i have no head work or lower engine work done, what would you guys recomend, I would like max power, an awsome sound and medium idle (noticable but not enough to empty my pockets).

Please Help

You will need headwork to run the CC306 because of lack of vacuum.

The LT4 hotcam is in no way better than the XE grinds or the CC305 or CC306. Im about to order the XE 224/230 CC from Combination Motorsports. They have a complete cam kit like the GM kit but with a better cam, better rr's, and better springs. The whole kit is only $100 more than the hotcam and worth about 10-15 more RWHP.

Good luck!

Depends what your end goal is. Are you going to get headwork? then get a bigger cam. You wont want to do it twice.

I got the 306 and Im installing it now.

Many say you cant even run the CC306 in your car without heads at the same time. Say your brakes wont work.

Friend has cc305 LSA114 and an 8# ATI. Blower whine is louder than cam lope. He has LT's and flowmaster exhaust also on stock heads. Runs around 12.7 w/ poor 60 fts on street tires and 3.73 gears. I am hoping to run high 12's myself with nittos with the mods in sig. Traction seems to be really important once you add any more power than these cars make stock. Talked to a guy at the track with an LS1, some XE cam and TC, wouldn't say what ones. (I hate that) Anyway, he had ET streets and skinnies and ran a constant 12.1 everytime. A friend of his said he had stock heads though. Damn those LS1's

i hear the 306 is fine on brakes-

with a 6spd i think 306 is better than the "standard" Xe equivalent. I say just get the 224/230 on a 110 and have at it
