Someone please tell me what this 112lsa means as far as cams go
Each lobe has a centerline, its where the lobe is most pointed if you look at it. On a given cylinder, the Lobe Separation Angle is the number of degrees between the intake lobe centerline and the exhaust lobe centerline. Make sense?
Lobe separation angle. the LSA is the angle between the intake centerline and the exhaust centerline shown in crankshaft degrees. it shows the overlap between the intake and exhaust valves. smaller the number, more the overlap.
just for giggles
overlap = (int duration + exh duration)/2 - (lsa * 2)
also they meantioned centerlines. advance/retard = lsa - intake centerline. for example 112lsa - 108icl = 4 degrees advance ground in. this is the usual case on most lt1 cams because there arent any timing chains that allow you to advance or retard the cam in your lt1 engine. i know those werent your question but they go hand in hand
