Gotcha, yes, am considering options for this in the next iteration of the interface.

We could do a true pop up (i.e. the video pops up in a new browser window) and you would then be able to browse other pages in the original thread. This may cause browser issues with people who have pop up blockers so I don't think we can use that solution.
that would be no better than the link. If it was gonna pop up in another window, I would just rather have the youtube link that I can ctrl click or middle click so I can open it in another tab myself in the original site (youtube). Im just wanting the option to turn it off and be able to have the links now

Re: Site Video Embed System Suggestions Thread

i hate watching the videos in the pop ups. I like to watch them in a separate youtube window so that I can open a video and continue looking at the thread while that video fully loads.

it would be nice if we could quickly double click on the embedded video to open a seperate window for the youtube version.

currently you have to click on the embeded video and let it open and then click on it to open a new window. and then close out the embeded video. and then you can continue to view the thread.

It's being worked on now. I don't have a timetable as to when some of those changes will be rolled out.

Re: Site Video Embed System Suggestions Thread

as a vB admin for another site, I can tell you that vBulletin broke our simple means of having embedded video when vB4 was released. Unless you are going to pay to have someone write custom code, the best you can do is to give the vB programming community time to get caught up with the new methods of coding for vB4, letting those apps "bake" for a bit to ensure there aren't any bugs, then test it out. I have not seen anything out there yet that I would consider ready for production.

The suggestions that people are making in this thread. Plus other things, but we won't mention them at this time as we don't want people to assume they will become a reality and be disappointed it they cannot make the next build phase. So to answer your question..."cool stuff".

This is something that we have to keep in mind as well, which is why we are going the route that we did. It may not be the fastest track, but it is indeed the most stable. It will get better.

That's fine. When we are done discussing it, we will actually be able to work on it. How's that work for you?

Seriously, though...we have more then enough input for now. Thanks!

Re: Site Video Embed System Suggestions Thread

Just copy this
No popups or unnecessary feature overload, looks like like an image until you press play. Easy, simple, clean, fast, not annoying, doesn't hijack/commandeer the screen, can play multiple videos simultaneously, videos embed with a [youtube] tag (or button)...
