Search problems? Come in here!

I've been working on this search problem and may have narrowed down some things.

If your still having some search problems, please post in the this thread with specifics. I'd like to know what search terms your using and in which forum your searching for it....or are you using a global search throughout ALL the forums.

Thanks!

Re: Search problems? Come in here!

Has been working great recently...

I admin a few VB 3.5.x boards, none of this size of course, but I'm curious as to what may have been causing the problem?

Re: Search problems? Come in here!

Just to let you know, I have had some slowness on the board in the past (not as bad recently), but no problems at all with the search function. I always search just one forum section though, not global.

Is there a way to include operators into the search criteria, such as and? I've been trying to find a set of "rear calipers" for my car and every time I type in two words in the search criteria, I get results with only one of each and every once in a while I get what I am after.

Even if I type in "and", I still don't get anything better.

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

Search function isn't working for me

I think since about Friday the search function hasn't been working for me. It didn't work on Friday at my college so i just figured it was a one time deal. I then came home and tried to do a search but i was on dial up and it still didn't work. I blamed it not working on the dial up as it can cause a lot of problems sometimes. I then came to work and just gave it a try and the search function still doesn't work. It just takes forever for the little green bar at the bottom to start to fill up, then it goes to the next screen and just says done in the lower corner but the page is blank. After a while i get a page cannot be displayed message. Anyone else having this problem?

The search i'm trying to currently do is LT1 oil pump driveshaft in the for sale section. It just times out and gives me a cannot find server error.

search problems

I have tried several different search types and nothing works!! I have tried my home computer and my work computer and all i get is cannot display page.
I have tried basic searches ranging from LT1 heads to small block 400 and have done advanced searches using the specific forums to All forums and nothing changes

Looks like the search index needs to be rebuilt. This is extremely time consuming and server intensive, so I'll do it this coming weekend. Please be patient.

Search isn't working for me. It didn't work yesterday or today.

I was searching valve springs in the LT1 engine section.
