Pop Up I just got...

First let me say that I am not complaining. I actually took the survey but I know Jason doesn't usually promote this sort of thing, so here's the little pop up I just got:

Would you be willing to share your opinions in a brief survey from our sponsor, and are you 18 years of age or older?

Are you SURE it was generated from THIS site?

I can't say that I'm 100% sure it was generated from THIS site and since no one else has stepped up I'm willing to bet that it wasn't.

Sorry for the false alarm Jason. Please forgive me.

Sometimes when you go to a site, it initiates a pop-up on a time delay either when you get to the site or even when you leave the site. Who knows how long they are set for? You could be looking at a site and then be 5 sites later and POW, a pop-up out of nowhere. Then you have no idea what site it came from.

****ers.

Get Mozilla or use Google's pop-up blocker. Both free, both work great.

No, I've gotten the same pop up a few times. It's just a small window that pops up.

Most random pop-ups I've seen on people's computers are generated by Spyware.

Go to www.download.com and search for "AdAware", download Ad-Aware 6, install, and run a full scan. Tell it to quarentine/delete whatever it finds.

I bet your number of popups will decrease quite a bit- especially from this board since I haven't gotten from here one since the days of Sprinks.

We haven't had any intentional pop-ups on the board since those days. We have had offers but have turned them down.

BTW, Google has bought out Sprinks. This is a VERY good thing considering that Google rocks, and we have partnered with them to bring content-targeted ads to this site. We have been testing Google's ads on the rest of the site and they work out well. See the top of the main page of the site for an example for any of you are unfamilair with them. When we roll out VBulletin 3.0, we will integrate Google's ads into it. Simple, targeted, unobtrusive, and for the benefit of all. Not to mention Google hates pop-ups as much as anyone else.
