This place is the greatest and I don't want to cause any waves but...
You must be referring to this:
"We should have a forum for transmission, or convertibles or...
It is not useful to break the board down into a million different sections. People want a convertible section...then they'll want it broken down by generation...then they want an engine forum, a transmission forum...broken down by generation.
People have a hard enough time keeping their posts in the proper forums we have to offer, making more forums could only make that aspect worse as well.
Additional forums will be made as necessary, but not until then."
OK that's good enough for me. Thanks

I understand the no need for convertables... but Drivetrain is very broad...
I mena look at my car.
I have a 94 3.4L v6 Camaro with the rear axle off a 97 WS6 trans am, the driveshaft off a 95 Z28, the torque arm off an 88 camaro, the tranny mount off a 93 1LE Camaro.
I woudl say 3/4 if not more of this site is 3rd and 4th gens, and wheather you have a v6, v8, ls1, lt1, L98, or whatever, most of the drivetrain from 82-02 is 100% interchangable and usable. Would narrow things down. The v6 section is narrow on topics about Borg Wanrer t-5s but I get stuck in the 3rd gen sectin making a post, and doing the same post in v6 section then sometimes in lt1 tech becasue they deal with more stuff then the v6 guys have.
it woudl jsut make it a little easier, just think you guys might want to rethink it.

Yeah, Again I don't want to create any waves but I truly think it would be beneficial for all to have a tranny/drivetrain section. So the suggestion is not to break it down into too many sections but just to add 1 section.
Thanks for the consideration,
Dave

Having a drivetrain section is far from breaking down the board into a million different sections. Transmissions and rearends are a crucial component of a car, just as the computer/pcm is. We aren't asking them to make a rear end section, a torque converter section, a cupholder section, a catback section, etc...
The LT1tech section is packed - it getstons of hits. It would reduce traffic a good amount if we added the drivetrain section. This is if you believe that having a medium amount of traffic (not small, not huge) is the best way to run the site.
IMO, Cz28 needs a drivetrain section. I'd be happy to find someone to moderate it for them if that was an issue - shoebox.
Drivetrain - Flywheel/Flexplate to Axles - blatantly obvious what that entails, and would not be easily confused.
Thanks for reading

Yes, drivetrain is a very broad topic, so you could definitely get your question answered without being year-specific.
I personally think that LS1TECH.com has the right idea on how to organize a tech section, and I think LT1 tech would greatly benefit from that format, but honestly, the LS1 tech section on this site is geared towards newbie questions (which is totally cool, we've all been there), but what im trying to say is if the Admin broke down the LT1 tech section like LS1tech.com, it would only be fair to do it to the LS1 tech section of this site, but I think it would be a lot of dead forums on the LS1 side. Anyone get my drift? Just kinda thinking outloud here.
BUT, on the other hand, maybe if we broke down the LS1tech forums, more people would be inclined to post more "techy" kinda stuff (I know I would). Just a thought!

I think it would be a bad move to try to pull more LS1 guys here by breaking up the LS1 section into specific forums. I think what this site should concentrate on what got it here today - LT1tech. Breaking down the LT1 section into different parts might not be a bad idea to stimulate more LT1 growth.
With all that in mind, a drivetrain section is all I really want to see, and keep in mind that drivetrain is definitely not an LT1/LS1 specific field
