Like the avatar idea = Pay to link Pictures? ..and other ideas
Or is this just a big no - no topic.
I really don't care about avatars...but I would like to post pictures. I know this takes up bandwithin, so what if we paid for what we use? Like say, send in $50 bucks to you guys, and we'll be able to link pics. Or is this idea totaly ruined by previous bad posters?
I know that most "trolls" won't fork over a good chunk of change to be baned for it.
...just an idea.
Also, what about posting pictures of our items that we have for sale? Like if I wanted to post my car for sale, and wanted to show it in the correct forum - would this be at all possible? -Or, do it like e*bay....pay to post a pic?
Just wondering.
Milo.

No, it still does not solve he same issues we have always had with this...
Here is a new example...
What if I were to give you a link to a 10 megabyte file. After you completely download it, there will be a little message for you to read. You cannot view the message until you download the entire file. Each time the message will be different and sometimes entertaining, sometimes informative and sometimes useless and stupid. If you want to read these messages, you are FORCED to download the file, over and over and over again. I think the file is neat, but after a while, you are tired of seeing the file over and over and over again and just want to cut to the message and skip the downloading of the file.
This is what it is like for people who don't give a crap about someone else's pictures and just want to read the messages. This is especially for people on dial up.
FYI to all...
You can and always have been able to link to images. It is just as easy to link to images as it would be to post them. If people WANT to see your image, they WILL click on it. It they DO NOT want to see it, they won't be foreced to see it anyway.

I think he means more along the lines of paying to host attachments, but limited to images. For those who do not have a server, it can be quite a pain to find somewhere to host thier picture. The only way I've found to host a picture is on a geocities website I set up, and that is very time consuming, becuase you have to login, upload the picture, etc. etc. So if we could upload the picture straight to the thread, that makes it SO much easier.
In the form of an attachment, not the fully viewed image.
But of course it would be for a fee like avatars, because of the extra bandwidth. People still wouldn't have to view it if they didn't want to, it wouldn't slow 56k users (like me) but the little link would be there.

I understand what you're saying - and it does make sense.
