Hey Dep.

No 56k problems, you just overlooked a couple of things. First of all, please post in the CORRECT forum. We created the SITE HELP AND SUGGESTIONS forum specifically for things like this, NOT the LOUNGE.

Second, please see the Site News forum. Here is a quick link to the post I just made:

You might have caught things while I was making some changes.

I have to agree loudly with 95LT1conv on this one. Although I thought the new classified section could have had a few improvements, I thought it was FAR superior over the old classified section that is now back. For those who complained about sorting through sections to find what you want; How much longer is it going to take you now that you have over 53,000 adds to look through 1 by 1? I really think organization was the key, and I liked having the pictures available as well.

Mr. Debbler, is there any chance we can have this Classified section back? Or is there really that many people on this board who liked it better the old way?

Did you guys vote in this poll?
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459822

You both are of very few who liked the Classified's system. Most complained that it was too hard to find things because the categories were too broken down, see other threads in this forum.

On top of that...

- Very few people actually used the feedback system even though people cried about not having one for years.
- Sellers wouldn't click the SOLD link in their listing which ended it, and then asked us to make it so people stopped asking if the item was still for sale.
- The system didn't completely integrate with the board, and that also made things even more confusing.
- The system allowed people other than members of the board to contact seller via e-mail while still protecting the sellers personal info. This was a neat idea until a Nigerian scammer flooded every seller with e-mail attempts to scam them out of money. People then asked us to make it stop. How can we stop one person from e-mailing someone else? More complaints ensued...directed at US. Some people were too gullible to not wonder it it was "legit" and others were too stupid to just delete the e-mail. The replies playing the the scammers only let them know people were actually getting their scam spams, and they continued. I hope playing with the scammers was worth it.
- The system also had bugs that made things just not work right in some cases.

I could go on, but I am sure you get the point.

Overall the cons outweighed the pros. We asked everyone for their opinion (link above) and we read every opinion very carefully, both good and bad.

We are still open to suggestion on what we are now using (the original system). We don't have any plans to go back to the Classified's system.

Re: car parts section of forum

I did use the feedback poll you are reffering to and adressed my thoughts in several threads. I do completly agree that if you didn't say anything before, then you have little room to talk now.

I wasn't aware of the amount of scamming that was going on, or how the system was difficult to integrade into the rest of the board though. For those reasons alone I can understand why you would want to switch it.

The fact of the matter is, no matter what you do with the Classified section, someone will be unhappy. I am thankfull you are at least open to suggestions at all times to hear what the majority of the people like myself on this board want.

Is there anyway you can integrate some kind of system into the Classified section that includes categories, and pictures, and more organization and then when one of those ads are in-putted into the system they also go on a mass thread list like the current one?

It wasn't terrible, just wasn't something we wanted happening. It was the potential that was bad.

That's exactly right, we can't make everyone happy but we do take what people say seriously as long as they are constructive about it.

There is a really long answer to that, but the short version of that same answer is no. Sorry!

Feel free to offer up ideas for what we are working with now.
