HELP Someone Good WIth Codes
Scanned my car and it threw a 0441 - Evap Emissions control system incorrect purge system.....
thats the charcol canester box right?
i know i had a problem with it before where the clip came undone andthe canester was hanging, im assuming the vacum hose got disconnected? correct? would this cause the motor to idle as if it had a vacumm leak?
- if this is the case am i loosing power...if so how much?
TIA Guys

Before you do ANYTHING, make sure you tighten your gas cap. The OBDII cars will run an EVAP test and it will fail if your gas cap is loose. The P0441 is the code that it will throw too if you fail to tighten your gas cap all of the way.
Start there and we will move from there.

The code list on the AutoTap site appears to be one of the best and most reliable. It shows:
This would indicate that one of the lines is plugged up, or the purge solenoid is not opening all the way. Wouldn't be a loose line or a vacuum leak. Perhaps the carbon in the canister is breaking down and plugging the line, or perhaps you have saturated the canister and liquid fuel is getting into the lines. If you had fuel coming in, it would sure mess up the A/F ratio when the EEC system is supposed to purge, but it doesn't purge during idle.
General Motors - P0441 - EVAP System No Flow During Purge
You will know if one of your lines is plugged up. Take a look at your tank..if your tank is caved in, then you have a problem with a line being plugged on the cannister.
We had a 99 Silverado come into the shop the other day and the cannister was plugged full of dirt and the tank was caved in because of it. Probably because it creates a strong vacuum inside the tank and sucks the walls in.

also when i walk to the back of the car i can hear what sounds like a vacuum....its the same sound as air coming out of tires....know what i mean? anyone else have any input it would be greatly appreciated.............
