Cool Throttle body bypass

Folks:

I'm always checking out Ebay and what it has for my 95 Z28.
I noticed a "Camaro LT1 throttle body bypass" good for 6RWHP. Is this any good? The price seems right at $8.95, but I thought I'd ask all the experts first.
Here's the ebay link to it
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Camar...spagenameZWDVW

Right now I have a 95 Z28 in great shape with 157K miles, still very strong, CAI w. K&N filter, Pacesetter Headers, LT4 Hot Cam Kit, and a wide open Borla Exhaust.

Thanks

Chuck

It is def not worth buying as a "kit". All you need is like a hose clamp or two.

All you need is a hose clamp, IIRC. There are plenty of threads here on the topic. Just do a search.

the 6rwhp may actually be accurate according to the dyno charts Ive seen, but def dont buy it. Its either free or cost under $2 for a hose clamp or two depends on your year model.

for a '95 remove the hose that goes from the steam pipe to the TB. Disconnect the hose that runs from the radiator fill cap to the throttle body at the TB. Take the end you just disconnected and connect it to the steam pipe.

TB by-pass complete.

Waste of time and energy. It was designed to heat the throttle body in cold parts of the country.Air is traveling at 200 mph anyway in there.

Yeh.... why would anyone want to pick up a dyno-proven free 6.3HP?

http://www.ws6.com/mod-8.htm

One of the best "free mods" out there. Coolant heats the throttle body, the heat is transferred to the intake manifold, incoming air gets heated up.... power is lost.

Time and Energy? It takes a couple minutes.

I've also never heard of anyone having a problem in a cold part of the country after doing the bypass - I could be wrong though.

Living in one of the hotter parts of the country I think I'll take a look at this.

Clearly you don't know what your talking about. Best bang for buck mod for the LT1 to date! Cost per horespower = 0!

I've ran mine through rough winters in chicago/Iowa/Wisconsin...Honestly I dont know what its made to do...It seems like the only time having a heated TB would help is to make sure the blades dont freeze...but when you first turn the car on nothing is going to be warm anyways (coolant wise)..And once it warms up and coolant starts flowing through the TB the entire engine is already making enough heat to prevent any type of freezing..Especially if you run any type of headers.
