Zaino ZFX - went bad, dried up

so i've used ZFX twice before, the bottle is probably 6 months old. every time i've used it i put the cap back on the small bottle then put the small bottle into the 2oz bottle with the blue cap then put it back into the box. there are 2 air tight seals and then the relative seal of the box.

pulled the ZFX out to drop it into a 2oz bottle now full of Z5 and its gelly. the ZFX has the consistancy of dried up paste!

what the hell? it had 2 air tight seals and it went bad?

worst $20.99 i've ever spent.

Call Sal and he'll send you a new one.

You can still apply Z5 without (just not mulitple coats in one sitting).

It's not a big deal.

Out of curiousity, where do you keep it?

kept it in the garage with all of the other car stuff. it gets warm in the garage but i've never had this problem with any other zaino products.

It is best kept between 65-75 degrees.

It's true. I've had much longer life from ZFX when kept in my desk drawer as opposed to my garage.

Re: Zaino ZFX - went bad, dried up

update:

just got an email from mr zaino himself with a phone number to give him a call. i'll be doing this thursday and will post up results.

i'd also like to note i'm not knocking zaino products, hell i put 6 coats on this weekend (roommate had ZFX ) and sware by Z5 to cover up all the nasty little scratches that show up in the clearcoat.

i was just slightly dismayed that it went bad within two sealed containers . the date ecklers put on the box says 4/14/2005.

I can almost guarantee that it has to do with your storage environment.

ZFX will last at least 18 months if kept in a cool place, I know this summer was very hot in the Northeast this year, and high heat will shorten the ZFX life. Go back to your Zaino distributor and they should replace your ZFX, just send them back the bottle.

Re: Zaino ZFX - went bad, dried up

There are really only 2 reasons for the ZFX to dry up. The temps it is stored in or the caps not being tight enough, unless it is a couple of years old.
