Zaino Problems
I applied zaino this weekend and I used the zfx and I had a problem with it being too greasy. It would also leave smears in the paint. I have a black car and used the claybar and then the wash and then z5 with the zfx and then 2 coats of z2. I let the last coat set over night and it seemed difficult to remove and was really smeary. what did I do wrong? I am thinking about buying some z1 and using that instead of the zfx. I also used 100% cotton towels. any ideas?
Well,
If Zaino is greasy or smearing then there are two likely causes. One, you applied too much product. Only apply very very thin coats. Almost so thin, you cant even see the film. Thinner is better with Zaino. Two, it may not have been completely dry. But, since you used ZFX this may not be the cause of the smearing as ZFX dries very quickly.
Zaino is not like conventional waxes where the more the better. The less film you apply, the better the results. It's always better/easier to apply mulitple thin coats of ZFX than trying to put on one or two heavy applications. Mist your applicator with Z6 or water and you'll get thinner coats. I suspect this is your cause for the smearing.

The really proficient Zaino users can do an application with 1/2 oz. and sometimes even less. One ounce is absolutely the most that should be used on an F-Body. With practice you should be able to reduce the amount you use for each application.

Whats the best way to measure how much you are applying to the finish of the paint. Do you all use measuring cups when you are putting polish into the zfx bottles?
