Zaino, 1st time user impressions...
I will keep this short as I know topics like this have been played out over and over...
I must admit I was very skeptical of the Zaino products, but finally decided to try it out to see if all the hype was justified. I was a faithful Meguires user for 10 years, 6 years with my '96. I followed the directions completely, dawning, claying, Z6ing between coats ZFXing, and so on... The result, I must say that there is truly a difference. It appears so much shinier/glossier (now Z5,Z5,Z5,Z2,Z2,Z2,Z5,Z2,Z2). The color depth seems to have increased dramatically. The clarity is sooo much better, I never noticed that there is a metallic flake effect to my blue-green chameleon paint. The waxes seemed to dull this.
So, I decided to try Zaino on my black truck. I have only done the front half so far though (Z5,Z5,Z5,Z2,Z2,Z2). I can't even tell you how pleased I am. It is amazing that I have almost gotten rid of the the spiderwebbing common to black paint. There is an obvious difference visually as well as to the touch between the Zaino and the Meguires.
From what I have heard/read any additional coats over what I have already done may be over kill, but I keep thinking that one more coat could push me into the next level of shine. So with that, I would say I am addicted to the stuff.

Yep, I noticed the same things on my very first application years ago after switching from Meguiar's. The clarity and color is amazing afterwards. And, it's also true that waxes tend to mute/darken your finish and hide the metallic flake. Carnauba wax is almost like applying a thin layer of candle wax on the paint. If you shaved off a thin layer of wax and try to look through it, you'd notice the clarity isn't too good. Same thing happens when a wax is applied to a paint finish. It hides the true color of the paint, but with all the high-shine oils, silicones, etc...you almost never notice. It's something you really don't notice until it's gone and Zaino is applied. Anyhow from another former Meguiar's nut, I know exactly where you're coming from.
