Post Z1 / ZFX issues...

I know you do not NEED to use Z1 if you use ZFX, but are there any issues if you do so?

Also, while on the ZFX topic... if ZFX is a 'flash cure' product... why are you asked to limit yourself to 3 coats a day?

I have my first batch of ZFX on order and should receive it soon... I have always used the old Z1 process before, and just want to get all my ducks in a row before starting with the new product.

What am I, a scientist?

I don't have ZFX, I'm still on Z1. Sorry. But I saw those pictures of your football helmets, why haven't I seen any pictures of this Monte?!

You are correct, there is no need for Z1 with ZFX. However, I still have and use Z1 every now and then and probably always will. I feel that Z1 adds a certain smoothness, slickness, and gloss pop when used. There is no problem if you still want to use Z1, but there is also no need to with ZFX, it's up to the user. There is just something about Z1 that tends to make the car look and feel even better after using it, at least IMHO. I don't use ZFX on every single coat, but it's certainly OK to do so. It's also perfectly fine to use ZFX and non ZFX polish on the car, as long as you still follow the application directions for each method.

The 3 coats ZFX rule is set by Sal. After 3 coats a day the polish tends to overload on the car and become tacky and a little difficult. I believe the polymers have difficulty bonding after 3 coats have been applied. This explanation may not be 100% complete, as I'm no chemist, but Sal knows his own products, and if he says 3 coats is max, then I believe him and his chemists. And, after 3, you'll be ready to call it a day anyhow!

HTH!

Mike

As Mike said the 3 coats per day is all the "system" can handle, on some cars I could get 4 coats on and a few even 5 coats, the problem is the Zaino polishes can not "grip" and hold coat uderneath, this will show up as smearing or "pushing" the polish around, that is why the instructions say 3 coats per day, we know you can apply 3 coats a day without any problems.
