Post What to remove exhaust residue off of bumper?

The exhaust fumes on my bumper are turning blacker and are becoming a really bad eye-sore. Can someone tell me what I should use to remove it and where I might find it at? Thanks a bunch.

Did you try to use a claybar? I'm thinking that should work.

Not yet but that will probably be what I try first. When it comes to detailing or anything, all I know is about basic washing and a little about waxing. Is claybar
something that I can find at Auto-Zone and will any brand work? Thanks again.

The clay stuff is available at many stores, it can do a great job of getting stuff off your paint that you didn't even know was there. Just keep folding it to use clean clay and keep the paint wet to lubricate it. Very easy.

You might also try some "old-style" pre-clear coat car polish that contains some abrasive and just rub the dark spots. The solvents in the polish can help loosen the dirt.

When the dirt is cleaned up, polish with a polymer-type coating instead of wax. Stuff doesn't stick as well to the polymer as it does to wax. The hydrocarbons coming out the exhaust can soak right into the wax and soften it.
