Washing a Convertable

When washing the convertable Camaros. Will soap get caught in the ragtop and then sud when it rains or anything like that? How do the other convertable owners do it here? Any input would be nice. Thank you.

Re: Washing a Convertable

16 views and not a response..the question isn't that hard. Sorry I didn't see it the 20th, I woulda answered it in 5 seconds. I use some off-the-shelf convertible cleaner, which works really well. When the cleanings all done, it gives it a deep satin look and cleans everything up real nice. Basically what I do is spray the stuff on the top its-self, when use a wash mit or towel to rub it in, then rinse off. I'm not sure the name of the stuff, but I got it at Autozone fairly cheap. I haven't tried using regular car wash stuff, but I don't think it'll really work too well...since car paint and a convertible top are two completely different things. Good look, let me know if you have any other questions.

For general maintenance, it works well to vacuum the top before washing. Then wash the top as you would the paint.

For deep cleanings and protection, you should look into Ragg Topp products. They are the recommended products for GM.

Yup, Raggtop is the ****. Use the cleaner with a sponge then pop the top, throw some newspaper in between the top and the windshield and the top and the side windows and stuff some newspaper around the rear side and the body panels and open the trunk and drop some newspaper along the bottom rear of the top then spray the hell out of the top with the raggtop protectant. use care around rear glass, tape off, wipe with glass cleaner very quickly or scrape with razor blade.
