Tried Mother's California Gold 3 Step...what I thought...

So I just finished trying the Mother's California Gold 3 Step wax. I started by washing the car with Dawn. Then I used the Step 1 prep. It went on well and wiped of well also. I was disappointed that it didn't take off all the sap and some of the more stubborn bug stains. Step 2 (Glaze) worked really good. It made the TA really shiney! Step 3 (Wax) went on easy as well and came off easy (buffing). I did it all by hand using no buffers or anything like that. I think for the first time, doing it by hand will give you a better feel for the products and an appreciation for the work it takes!! I think I will also be putting on a second coat of wax soon!! All in all, I like it and for the price, you cannot go wrong. In hindsight, i would have claybarred the car before putting on the glaze. Touching up any paint chip would have been a bonus too. But this was my first time trying this stuff. I would recommend the Mother's California Gold 3 Step wax!!
just my 2 cents.!!

I have had good luck with the 3 step. I need to get the clay bar to get some of the tough stuff off.

You don't have to use dawn with the Mothers CG. Dawn doesn't remove all of the old wax, and the paint cleaner will (should) remove all or most of the contaminants. You will probably need to either work in step 1 a little longer, or use a pc, or take two tries at it to remove stubborn spots. I used to use Gliptone's Pro-Buff Paint cleaner. It is very active, and most mild paint issues will not be able to resist its cleaning power. It is perhaps the best "over the counter" paint cleaner.

Glad to hear that you had results. I like this wax system a lot.
