Tiny Rust Spots....

I got my car painted a while ago and I waited the 60 days the guy who painted the car told me to wait before waxing but now there are tiny rust spots all over the car if you look real close? And its making me really angry... Will a claybar take it away? What about polishing it? Or will it have to be wet sanded? Thanks for any help.

i dont think you are gonna get rust from not waxing, that sounds like bad prep work to me. also u cant get rid of them by clay baring. gotta sand prime and repaint.

Try the claybar. It should take care of it for you. Not sure since I can not see your car, but it may not be rust spots. It could actually be dirt and deposits that have collected on the paint job and just appear to look like tiny little rust specks. This is common and a lot of elbow grease with the claybar will remove it.

Clay bar may appear to remove it to the naked eye, but it will not. The paint needs to be de-contaminated to prevent them from coming back...

http://www.fk1usa.com/decontamination.htm sells a 3-step wash which is what you need. It has acids in it (step 2, you can clay during this step), so it's a one-time thing.

It's not exactly cheap....but it's the only way you can completely remove that. It could be rail dust or industrial fallout, but either way, get used to washing once or twice a week and using quick-detailing spray often (as long as the car isn't dirty....QD sprays can be used to remove light dust.)
