strange oxidation(?) on door moulding

since i bought the car a year ago, the moulding on the driver side door has become oxidized (?) every 2-3 months or so.

< picture here >

it comes off using rubbing compound + meguires polish & i wax it afterwards, but the oxidation continues to come back. is this because the clear has worn off? why only this moulding? help/tips please, thanks.

Wish I had some advice, but that is really odd. Does it creep ******d from the glued area I assume?

Edit: Why the heck is o-u-t-w-a-r-d being censored? Didn't realize that was such a naughty word. o.utward o.utward o.utward

Re: strange oxidation(?) on door moulding

That happened on my Formula. The paint eventually disappeared. It was primarily on the driver's side, although it is starting to happen on the passenger side. The only thing I could figure out that might have caused it was that the way we had to park in the parking lot at work exposed that side to the sun. I don't work there anymore, but where I park now, the sun hits the passenger side, and I see it starting to happen.

Re: strange oxidation(?) on door moulding

excess sunlight kind of makes sense x/c it's only on the moulding and not on the shoulders, hood, c-pillar, or spoiler. maybe GM just did a poor clearcoating on the mouldings?.

do you think sanding the paint, masking the area, then spraying some canned clear could help?

p.s. (o.utward) haha that is weird
