stock market ruined my paint as well as our gas

so last night i was checking the stocks and these rich A$$hole speculators helped bump up the barrel 15 more dollars in the past 2 days. so i rused down and topped of my car 17$ for 4 gallons. i used an extra dollars worth cause of the shaky prices around here. so today i drove her up on ramps to tighten my header bolts and after abotu 40 mins i smelled gas big time i looked and the gas was running outta my fill down my paint and to the ground most of my lower quater panel is ok. but some of the paint on the fuel door and just below it rippled up and peeled of it was just painted last year. i used some touch up paint to fix it so its not that big of a deal but why didnt the rest of the paint peel off. do u think i did significant damage to the rest of the paint its still smooth. looks fine. i used meguiars quick wax and a few rags right away to clean up the gas

Your paint shouldn't be peeling that fast, sounds like poor prep work or so.
I sometimes get a bit of gas drips on my company car and it has never happened to me.

Did you get a written lifetime warranty with your paint work?

lol Ya, Maaco is the problem here. If you prep the car and tape/take everything off and all they gotta do is spray it, then they are golden for the price, but if you dont do all that, then its a paint job due to fail.

I would venture to guess that the reason the paint lifted immediately is because it is a single stage finish. The single stage finishes won't hold up to aggressive solvents like gasoline. With a 2-stage (base/clear) finish, you wouldn't have seen a sudden reaction like that. Those $200 MAACO paint jobs use cheap, single-stage enamel, and it's just not a durable finish. Not trying to **** in your punch bowl or anything. The car looks nice, but you really can't expect much out of a $200 paint job.

it was a 2500$ paint job, 2 coats of base and a coat of clear, i am assuming they missed that one spot because of its hard to reach nature
