I know ZaneO probaly knows the answer to this so ill ask it here...

Ive got a red Trans Am, and the paint is pretty much in good condition except for those damn swirl marks. I forgot how bad red shows swirl marks and other imperfections. You cant really see them at all during the day, except in certain lighting conditions, but at night you can see them like crazy. Its not really *that* bad, but the rear spoiler is pretty badly swirled and its driving me crazy. So i need something that is going to help me out here...

Ive done some research and ive come across these products...

Poorboys SSR 1
Poorboys SSR 2.5
Sonus SFX-2
Zaino Z-PC
Anything else?

Will any of these work? And im assuming ill have to apply it with a machine to get full results, correct? Is there anything else that i can look into to get the job done? Its just your average swirl marks and other minor scratches that im looking at getting rid of.

 

Any of those will help. Without seeing the defects, it's hard to say which one(s) will be required.

It's always best to use the least aggressive method possible, but GM clear is very hard and usually takes time and effort to correct. A machine *is* the most effective and efficient way to deal with them.

*I* like to use the Menzerna polishes.

 

So what if i used the SSR 2.5 and then Z-5/Z-2, would that work? And what pads should i use to do this?

 

Like I mentioned, I can't tell you if that will work without seeing the defects. SSR 2.5 is a pretty abrasive polish - it's probably best to follow it with a lighter polish.

 

How abrasive is the SSR 1? Ive heard of people following up the 2.5 with the 1, would that be a good follow up to the 2.5?

I haven't used SSR 1, but it's a finishing polish which most use to follow SSR 2.5. So to answer your question, yes.
