Small dull area by gas cap

Over the summer I accidentally backed out of a driveway and rubbed my rear driver quarter panel on one of my friends cars (very narrow driveway). Anyway, I was easily able to get the small amount of paint off with a rubbing compound, but now the area (only about 3in. diameter oval) is a little duller than the surrounding area . It is really hard to notice, but I can see it and that is all the matters. Anybody have any combination of stuff to get the dullness to go away? It really bugs me. I just dont wanna try stuff to get it to go away and end up harming the paint. You guys are pros in this area, let me know. Thanks

The compounding itself will leave a dull area because it basically scours the surface to remove imperfections, like a very light sandpaper. You will need to polish the area to bring up the gloss from compounding and remove the compounding marring. Pick up a bottle of 3M SMR or Meguiar's #9 SMR 2.0, either should work, but you may notice more gloss with the Meguiar's since it contains more oils than the 3M. Go over the area more than once if necessary with the swirl remover then finish with your wax. If you use Zaino, you'll need to wash that area with DAWN first.

Yeah, I knew it would get dull but wasn't sure how to bring the shine back. Thanks a lot...btw, where do you find that meguiar's #9? The only place in my area that is decent car parts is Pep Boys. Will I find it there?
