Scratches/Film on window glass

i have a film on my front windshield that almost looks like hard water stains if possible, and also scratches either on the window or in the tint of side windows. Rear glass has same film on front window. Anyone know a good way to get this off???? I heard using a clay bar and then chrome polish...heard it on one of the Mother's Car Show TV Shows. any ideas??

**i believe the scratches on the side windows are from dirt getting down onto the velvet pads that hols the window in place when rolled down....west texas sucks! should it only have screwed up the tint, or whole window glass?

You can try clay on your outside glass, if that does not work then try glass polish or #0000 steel wool with Bon-ami (sp)

For glass stains, films, spotting, and very light scratches, a good glass polish is your best bet. The Zaino glass polish is great for this kind of work since it's abrasive. The Z glass polish will leave the glass crystal clear, but depending on the severity of the scratches, it may or may not remove those.

There aren't too many glass polishes on the market from the major companies. I've actually only used the Zaino glass polish, however I did notice DuraGloss has a glass polish called NuGlass at CarQuest and some NAPA stores. You might try either of these.

NEVER use a glass polish on aftermarket tint though, or you will completely ruin the tint for sure.

well, i have after market tint on the sides/rear, so i guess i should just get it retintied, hoepfully the scratches are on the tint, not the window.
