Rusty Headers

What is the best way to make headers look new. Mine have a light coating of rust and no color. I'm not sure what color they were when new. I would prefer not to take them out if at all possible.

Thanks in advance

What is the original finish of the headers? Ceramic, painted, etc.? Pics would be great.

The headers were originally painted, color unknown, Edelbrock short tubes. If the headers need to come out I may as well install new ceramic coated ones. They were installed right out of the factory in 94 and have very light surface rust. Just a cosmetic thing for now. Sorry no pix.

If the headers were previously painted and now have a light coating of rust, then painting them with VHT paint would be the best option. VHT paint withstands temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees. Removing the headers are required to paint them.
