Question Road Tar removal?

Just curious, if anyone has a an easier way to remove tar without having 2 sore arms when done? I recently inherited alot of tar on the car, and i have tried the so called "bug and tar" removers without much success. someone suggested a little rub with Diesel fuel?

I would not use the DF, it might cause staining. Try some WD-40 or better yet, the best tar removal product I have used is Stoners Tarminator.

actually gm sells a product that cleans that stuff up like nothing. about 5-8$ a bottle. works great. you get it at their parts department. i havent had any problems with it but someone could chime in if for some reason or other its harmful or whatnot. hope this helps.

It's not that your average bug and tar removers are very harmful, most of them just use strong solvents to do the cleaning. So, worst case is that it will strip your wax protection. Now, if you used the same strong chemicals repeatedly for long periods, it is possible that it could begin to cloud your finish. Once or twice isn't going to harm anything though as long as you clean off the residue and rewax the area.

I'd also vote for Stoner's as they make good, quality products for this sort of thing. And, their's seems rather mild but works well.

How about good old fashioned Gasoline? Put a little on a rag and it comes right off, no need to waste money on bug/tar removers.
