Re-wetting Clay Bars

Is there a way to re-wet clay bars...like soak them in water or something? I have a clay bar that hasn't been used for a while, and I don't want to buy a new one if I can re-use this one.

I use Meguiar's quick detailer when I use the bar...but I'm talking about a presoak to get it soft again.

Anyone do this?

....I've never had one go solid on me before. I would think that the microwave may help to soften in up, or possibly hot water??

I'm also not real clear on what happened to your clay... but if it's degraded to the point where it may not be usable, just spend the $10-15 and get a new one.
I always use wash water for a lubricant when claying, so dunking it in some soapy water might help. However, in my experience keeping the clay that wet also causes it to degrade very quickly.

In my knowledge which isn't a whole lot in clay bars but I would really avoid a dry bar like yours.

Bring this thread back to life...so I'm going to just start with a new clay bar. So my question is how do you store the clay bar after using it. In a ziploc bag? Anything special after it's been used until next time?

mine came with a little box like one of those portable soap boxes. it's been in there for quite a while and it's still soft. it doesn't seem like it's airtight or anything. i'd imagine that a ziploc bag would be just fine too though.

A ziploc bag will be just fine. That is how I would store it if you already threw away the box that it came in originally!

Wrap in plastic wrap and store in a zip loc bag, that will prevent it from drying out.
