Polishing LT-1 Intake and other metals under the hood?
Could someone go through the proper steps to polishing the intake and getting it to shine. I am getting ready to purchase a dremel tool and I need the steps to take to get the metal cleaned up and polished.
I have not begun the process of polishing out my LT1 yet, but I know the basics. It will take quite some time, since we have such rough finishes on our parts, but what you do is start out rough, with a flapper wheel or tootsie roll that's 80 grit, and take out some material. Once that's smooth, then you just work your way down using finer and finer grit and it will start to come out for you. When you've worked down far enough to satisfy yourself, then you can use polishing compound on a buffing wheel to bring out the shine.
