Polish right over wax??

Hi guys,

This may sound stupid, but if you just washed your car, and wanted to polish it, can you polish right over the existing wax thats on the car and then wax again or would you have to wash it with dishsoap and then polish and then wax? Thanks

Wax goes over polish.

Yes, you can use a polish over the existing wax, however the polish will remove all the old wax, which you may or may not want. Using Dawn would be unnecessary as the polish would take care of any existing wax. After you polish, you will have to rewax for protection.

By polish, I'm also assuming you mean something abrasive or with cleaners, like a swirl remover or paint cleaner.
