Peeling clear coat. Bought a Buffer. How do I keep from Screwing it up?

the clear coat is peeling pretty badly on my car. I bought a 3400 rpm buffer from walmart today. how do I go about doing this? Do I just lay it flat and go over the peeling spots till it's smoothe then spray some clear on those spots and wax it when I'm done? That seems too simple

if the clear is peeling the only thing you can do is repaint.

buffing will do nothing for it.

if you bought a "real" buffer i wouldn't recommend doing it yourself anyways. it's a good way to permanently **** up your paint.

basically, the only way to "fix" it is to get the car repainted. once the clear is gone, no amount of buffing will help.

yep, it sucks when the clear coat starts peeling.

at least it's fun to pick at though.

Thats to fast anyway. A real buffer has variable speed. 1700 RPM is a good average speed to use.

Take an air hose and difuser to it and watch the whole car balloon up.

1700 rpm is definitely on the high side of safe. 1250 is more realistic.
