Made my headlights clear again!

I've been playing around with different products for a wile.

I'll post pictures later, they came out great, and mine were super foggy!

Wet sanded with 2 and 3,000 grit

Then compounded with heavy duty compound then a lighter compound, then used a 3M plastic and swirl remover polish then my usual car wax.

I'll do them again with the compound because they need it in some spots but otherwise I'm thrilled!

I too have been looking for a way to restore my headlights. So, you are saying that none of those other products worked? (I had been looking at trying some when I get some time.

What kind of compound did you use if you do mind me asking?

Re: Made my headlights clear again!

I have some plastic polishing compound that you put on a foam pad that sticks on the end of a drill that's supposed to work wonders... I got it because it came with a 'package deal' of some other stuff I wanted. Still haven't tried it but it's supposed to work wonders. My lights are already clear as day so I just keep them looking that way with routine treatments with Plexus. Shines and protects.

1-#7 polishing compound first (Extremely abrasive!!!) not clear coat safe
2-then turtle wax white polishing compound (softer, clear coat safe, but still not good on the paint!)
3- then swirl remover because it helped clean it up before I used the wax.
4-kit paste wax like I use on the rest of the car.

Wet sanding helped at first, made it all uniform, but the compound was amazing, I was all set to go buy new lenses!

I bought that thing, I think it's called "flitz" It was useless!

I'm plaing to use it to clean my wheels once I swap them for the winter ones in dec but thats it, it's a POS product

Re: Made my headlights clear again!

fog is easy to get rid of... mothers mag and aluminum polish will take the fog right off, still leaves the rock chips though, you can see them when the lights are on. they "look" newer that way though. (did it on a taurus my dad had sittin around )
