Painting Costs

Hey guys Im gonna need to get some painting done and I figured I would ask here to get a beginning costs estimate/ Something to negotiate with the painter.

How much do you think it should cost to paint:
93-97 Front Fasica bumper cover
98-02 SS spoiler
93-97 Stock Hood

I will be keeping the color stock black.

Just let me know what you think is a reasonable price. $$

Thanks

Well, nobody responded to this, so I'll offer my uneducated guess. I would assume $1000 for a good paint job on those items.

Lol thanks, I was hoping maybe someone who painted a lot of cars would have some input. I will just have to start asking around and find out I guess.

I would check craigslist, I have seen ads on there of paint and body guys looking for extra side work to make some additional income in this poor economy, I know I've seen a couple of ads like that.

NOOOOOOOOOO. If you want it to last maybe a year and not match the car then go with Maaco. If you go the Clist route make sure you check references and work they have done as you might get a very poor painter or someone who has very very little experience.

My body shop - Flares is pretty big around here - Charged $350 for a hood - $300ish for a fender. Rough ideas. Probably $1kish for all that.

Top of the line job with blending the fenders and making sure everything lines up perfect with top of line materials and workers $2600.00

Average body shop no blending ppg paint or equal $1400.00

Less then below sho $900.00

Mickey mouse shop $700.00

Craigslist guy ( good luck) $550.00

Just get an estimate at a few different bodyshops. It's really hard to get a decent estimate online from people who have never seen your car. Also, your costs could be anywhere from a few hundred bucks to a few thousand depending on the quality of the finish you demand.

and how much prep work your are willing to do (if any) 90% of a good paint job is the prep work.

I own a body shop and Geezer powered's numbers are just about dead on. If you want a GOOD paint job, you will have to PAY for it. We don't give them away.
