Paint Chips and ?bout Zaino.....

Was wundering what i c an put on my car besides a bra that will keep paint from chipping off on my hood. Will wax work or something as long as i keep my car clean and waxed....

And about Zaino i was wundering what i should get like just 1 or 2 products that i should get to start off.... I was thinking about geting a clay car from there but i really have no idea what does what or if the clay bar is used just for applying that other stuff....

So what products should i get. I am for sure going to get something that will fill in the small scratchs and swirls...

No wax is strong enough to prevent chips. I don't know if it's just coincidence or not, but it does seem like I get fewer chips or scratches since I've used Zaino. Since Zaino will layer and stack on the paint, maybe those layers help resist scratches and light chips. I really don't know, I'm just speculating a theory. It's probably just luck though.... There are alternatives to a car bra, like 3M Paint Protection Film.

Zaino now has a great starter kit...... http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...ory_Code=Zaino

If you don't want to start off with the whole kit, just grab the ZFX, Z5, and Z7 for starters. You will probably want the Z18 clay too as surface prep. You might want to read over the Zaino site at www.zainobros.com for the application tips. There is info about the clay bar and all other products there. Claying is pretty easy and safe. As long as you keep the clay clean and well lubed, it's a painless process.

I agree with the 3M film. Friend of mine uses it on his Vipers. Works pretty damn good IMHO.

I came up with exactly $84.70 without shipping added.

ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive - $19.95
Z-2™ Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes - 12.95
Z-5™ Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches - 16.95
Z-6™ Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray - 9.95
Z-7™ Show Car Wash - 7.95
Z-18™ ClayBar - 16.95

3 FREE applicators

TOTAL: 84.70

Yea, I'm pretty sure it comes in big rolls. Some companies are offering kits of the 3M film that fit certain areas of the car. 3M doesn't really want consumers to be able to buy the product.....they want it professionally installed, like window tinting I guess. It sounds pretty easy to install with some time and patience, but I guess they figure the average joe would screw it all up. I would bet though that a local 3M shop would sell the rolls or as much as you would want. I got 3M window tint and I asked the guy if he would sell the tint roll and he said he would. I imagine they would sell the paint protection film to anyone as well.

It's definitely removable. It's basically like applying a window tint type material (but probably much stronger) to the paint. I wouldn't mind having a little of the film for some of the more suseptable areas to damage. Heck, they even say you can wax over the film lol.

You might like to check the FAQ....if you already haven't. http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-168/czuekFC/view.jhtml

After contacting the 3M guy here, he said I could buy a 24" roll of the paint film for $900. He's suposed to call me back for a quote to do just the hood and/or fenders. I don't really know if I'd want the film for those areas, but I would like to know how much it runs anyhow....

Protecting certain areas on trips or when auto Xing or road racing or drag racing was what I had in mind. I could cut and trim what I needed for the locations I wanted.
