Arrow Mike/Kevin need QUICK help!

I'm doin my mom's car tonight... Zaino is drying now... I ran out of z6 and I was wonderin if I used the Mothers California Gold Showtime Instand Detailer spray that comes with the clay bar, would it make too much of a difference or would it affect the durability/optical clarities of the Zaino. Here's a description if it helps:

Used correctly Showtime removes fingerprints, dust, and other dulling contaminants. Contains color enhancers and shine fortifiers. Hides minor scratches and spiderwebbing.

I really wanted to z6 the car because it makes such a difference in gloss & it feels so smooth ... I thought I had more left, but I guess I was wrong.

Thanks guys.

Smile Hello

Well I suppose there are two sides to this answer, depending on who you believe. First, yes you can use the Mother's as a final shot of QD spray or quick cleaning, but I would not use it in between coats! Basically the Mother's Showtime contains oils and silicones, like polyproplyene oils, that would prohibit more Zaino from bonding properly to the paint, without it being washed off first. The silicones aren't the "bad" kind though, but still, it's silicone, which Zaino isn't supposed to be compatible with. As you probably know, Sal recommends that only Z6 be used with Zaino for proper bonding and compatibility. But, the Mother's VP says the Showtime is completely compatible with most synthetics, including Zaino. So, I'm inclined to trust Sal here, based on the fact that they are his products, not Mother's, and so he should know the real deal. Basically it comes down to this....you can probably use any non-wax QD with Zaino, even the ones loaded with oils and silicones, as long as you do NOT apply more coats of Zaino over the QD. You can use it as a final shot of gloss enhancer or for quick touchups every now and then, but try to stick with Z6 only in between Z coats, and whenever possible to extend the life/gloss of the Z polish. If you do use another QD, like Mother's, a quick Z7 wash will remove most all of it and you're OK. Other than a potential bonding issue, the only other problem you may encounter is a streaking problem with the Mother's. Remember, you can always cut down Z6 50/50 with water to make it go farther, since Z6 is ultra-concentrated.

Thanks for the advice. I might just go ahead and use it after the final coat, it's not my car anyway Seriously though, this car isn't gonna get Zaino every other day like my car does, so it shouldn't be a problem. I ordered more Zaino, but i'm still waiting for that UPS truck

Well... I just put the 2nd coat of Z5 on.... Wow, the car looks a million times better. The swirls on that car were ridiculous. She used to go to those car washes about twice a week I told her not to. Today we were sitting there and I walked up to her paint and showed her all the scratches and she couldn't believe it. When my Zaino comes in I'm gonna put 3 more coats on her car. I should've took some before and after shots...Anyway, I smelled the spray and it smells like mints. I like the grape smell better. I wouldn't put that stuff on my car, so I'm not gonna put it on hers. I can z6 my car with like 1/2 ounce and considering she has a convertible top I might just have enough left.

Talking Hehehe....

Sounds good man! Hehe, I love the reaction from relatives when you first Zaino their cars. Most of my relatives couldn't car less about car care, and I'm the only fanatic in the family I guess, but I always have been. Don't really know who I got it from, since noone else cared much about it. I think it's just my personality though, because they say only children tend to be perfectionists! Anyhow, when I first restored, polished, and Zainoed my Mom's dark red Maxima, she couldn't believe the difference on an 8 year old car! They know from watching my habits through the years, that car washes are a nono, so that's never been a big problem around here. Now, she insists that I only use Zaino on her car. LoL At least one is seeing the light anyway.... Relatives' cars are great though, because you can do experiments with other products or techniques that you wouldn't want to do on your own car, at least not yet anyway.

Good work though, sounds like she should be proud of the work done!

Mike
