keyed car

I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on a cheap way to hide scratches from some jerk keying my car. The scratches are too deep to reapir with rubbing compound. I know that stuff called gs27 is junk but do they have something that will fill them in with a color. The car is black. I need to get by until I can have it painted. thanks

You might want to try filling in the scratch with touch-up paint and a toothpick, then lightly sand it back down to match the level of the original paint. Then you'll need to polish and buff it back out...

Not easy work and it'll probably still be noticable, but at least it won't look like an ugly scratch...

In every town there usually is a guy that come to auto dealers and does minor paint touch up, dent removal, etc.

These types of guys would be the guys to see to get the scratch fixed at a much cheaper rate than a body shop repair.

They will usually use a small spray gun right on the parking lot, use fast drying paint and then sand and buff the area where you can not see it any longer.

In my area we have a guy from this company: http://www.marsinternational.com/index2.htm

I just recently bought a customized 99 black Silverado and it was in really good shape all over except the tail gate had some scuffs and gouges in the paint, my local MARS man took off my tail gate on Tues and carried it home, repainted the entire thing filling the gouges, and brought it back and installed it on my truck in the parking lot the next day, he charged 125.00 which to me, it was worth it.

Also, since vandalism is a crime and on some insurance policies it carries a zero deductable your insurance might pay for the repair....

There is no way to do a decent touch up on key marks. The only thing that works is a repaint.
