Exclamation Just painted my car, what should I use to prevent swirl marks??

Like the subjects says... I want to know what is the best way & the best things to used for washing your car. My car when I bought it was full of swirl marks and I got tired of using swirl removers for minimal results... I got a new paintjob now and want to know how to prevent swirl marks all together if possible. Thanks

btw, I usually wash my car with a bucket of water, a sponge and a chamios(sp?)... I hose the car with water, then go over it with the sponge & water(a section at a time and hosing off each section I do) then when I am finished I hose the whole car off again and then use the chamois to dry it.

Any techniqes would be appreciated. thanks!

Get rid of the sponge and chamios, don't wash a clear coated car with a sponge, use 100% cotton toweling to wash with and to dry with.

use back and forth motions or up and down. Never circles, that makes swirl marks. What kind of soap are you using?

I dont use soap... the dealerships told me just to wash with plain water, because all soaps supposably hurt your paint...

ALWAYS use soap to wash your car. If you don't, you are just spreading the dirt around and that will scratch your paint very quickly. Get some of the Zaino Z-7 car wash soap. Or if you want to just get something from the auto parts store, buy Meguires Soft Wash Soap. (never use dishwashing soap, it strips off all wax)

Always use a car wash, dealerships don't know crap about cars and paint (ironic don't you think??) A dealership is only as smart as the people who work there, and the dealerships around me hire MORONS!!!!!!!!

The soap encapulates the dirt and safely floats it off the paint.
