I thought I'd give some advice on car covers since I just bought one.
I thought I'd give some advice on car covers since I just bought one.
Before I bought my car cover, I did a search on here and didn't find anything good so I thought I'd give a review on the one I bought.
I bought a custom fit CoverCraft Weather Shield outdoor carcover for my black 97 TA WS6 and started using it about 3 months ago. I will say without hesitation that it is everything I wanted and everything that the company claimed.
I park my car outside 24/7 and my main concerns were to keep it clean and free of tree sap etc., and scratch free. I can leave the car outside under the cover for 3 weeks and it'll look like it's just been washed--no dust, dirt, or anything at all!
The car has been covered outside while in rain and very heavy downpours, and the water has not penetrated it at all.
My car is black and I am absolutely nuts when it comes to the paint being swirl and scratch free(It is perfect except for stone chips). As of now, I can not see any areas on the car where the cover has swirled or scratched the black paint, even through heavy wind periods. I am truley amazed!
The cover is very light, just like a nylon windbreaker jacket, so it definately blows around in the wind. I need to tie it down with a rope using the two tiedown loops at the center bottom of the cover. It works great and I've had trouble only one time during a very, very windy day. The cover is very compact and easy to store in the plastic bag it comes with, which is nice.
I had the seems lined with felt to further protect the car from scratches. I don't know if this was even necessary but when I did my extensive research on covers, I read that an s2000 owner claimed that the seems on this particular cover marred his paint during windy conditions. That is the only thing I read about that problem but with me being so **** about my car, I had the seems felt lined for about $20 extra.
Well, here's the bad part. The cover costs about $210 if I remember correctly(at www.ajusa.com) , plus the extra for the felt lined seems, but to me it was worth every single penny. I had an $80 universal fit cover before this and it can't even touch this one in performance and fit.
Just read the website http://www.covercraft.com/weathershield.htm Everything they say is true.
