Post How to get window film off

I cleaned them completely with Windex and 00 fine steel wool, then wiped them clean with news paper and still I have the film that the wipers have left over the years. I also tried gasoline, too.
Anyone know how to get that off?
Eric

Hmmm, it sounds like the wipers have left semi-permanent etching streaks or scratches. The only thing I could recommend for this would be the Eastwood Glass Polishing kit.

Scroll down and take a look at their glass compound or kits.

I had the same problem on my car. It had this film that looked like water spots on the glass that wouldnt come off for nothing. I tried white vinegar, gas, u name it. Finally a guy on here suggested Barkeeper's Friend from the grocery store. This stuff works man and it was only like $1.10. Its an abrasive kind of like Ajax but milder. The worst part is you have to scrub like hell a small spot at a time with a damp towel ( i used a t shirt) and keep mixing in some of the abrasive. It took me 2 hrs to do my T-tops if that tells u how time consuming it is. It was well worth it to me. Hope this helps.

In reply to the original post. I would have to say that with personal experience; the Eastwood cleaner kit works exceptionally well. My previous car was a 3000gt and when I bought it the windshield was terrible. You would think it was scratched but in fact it was from poor cleaning. The kit is not an abrasive and works as a sort of polish as well. Get the stuff. It really works. Oh..and stay away from gasoline if possible..aiight.
